Making cars!

Malia is in an awesome preschool taught by certified teachers. She loves it and has learned so much. Mason went to the same preschool and was ahead in Kindergarten because of what he learned there. Each month they have a specific unit they study. For the month of September their focus was transportation. As part of each unit, they have a project they assign for the child and their family to do at home. Some projects in the past have been to make a stick horse, making their favorite planet, researching an animal and doing a poster presentation, etc. The project for the transportation unit was to make/build/buy their favorite form of transportation. We convinced Malia a car would be the easiest to make here at home since we had all the supplies we needed and we didn't have to worry about whether it would fly or float as we would have to with a plane or boat. So Thad got creative and built her a monster truck out of a shoebox. We used wheels from Mason's tinker toys so it would "drive", and Thad made roll bars from pipe cleaners. Malia helped paint it purple, her favorite color, and then she put heart and flower stickers all over it.



Of course in our family you can't do something fun and cool without another kid wanting to do it too. So Mason also made a monster truck and painted it red. They were both so excited about this project and had lots of fun doing it!
