Play Ball!

It's that time of year when the crack of the bat and shouts of "Hey batter, batter" can be heard all over the country. It's baseball time! For us, it's T-ball season. I know it seems like it's starting a bit late but due to a shortage of fields and trying to work around big kid baseball and spring soccer, T-Ball starts late in the season for us. Mason had his first practices last week and his first game yesterday! It was so much fun to watch these 4-6 year olds running all over the field trying to get the ball, tackling each other just to be the one to throw the ball to first base. Then try as they might to throw the ball to first, it only makes it there half the time, and then the odds of the player on firstbase catching it are slim to none when it actually makes it to the base. Also, watching the kids hit off the T and then running to first base while dragging the bat behind them is hilarious.

Mason did fairly well. He managed to hit off the T without any problems. He made it on base twice and was tagged out once. He really likes to go where the ball is and will run all over the field (from outfield to the infield) just to get it. He has great hussle! He also does very well at throwing. Now I just need to work with him on catching and actually throwing with a target in mind and getting the ball to that specific target. I know he had a lot of fun and is so excited to be playing with his friends.

I heard from so many people how boring T-Ball is, but I had a much different experience and look forward to seeing the kids improve as they learn the basics of the sport and how to work together as a team.
