Do you keep in touch with friends you had in highschool? Well, we have a select few that we love to keep in touch with and do things with. We have been blessed to live in an area where many of our highschool friends have settled and are able to do things together with our families.
For instance there is my friend Kathy who I have known since middle school. We played on the same softball team and the rest is history. She actually lives in the neighborhood across the street from ours, our boys are the same age and go to the same school, and we still do things together. My friend Kim, who helped me get my job at the nursing home in high school and therefore introduced me to the world of healthcare and nursing, moved back to Idaho from California with her family over a year ago. She moved in maybe a mile away from us. We didn't know this until Thad was sustained in his Stake calling for church and she recognized the name and looked us up. The world seems to get smaller everyday.
Thad's friend Andy and his family live about 2 miles from us. Thad's friend Ben and his family lived near us when we lived in Utah. They moved up to Idaho about 2 1/2 yrs ago and now live in Meridian about 15-20 minutes from us. We love to get together with them and visit and let our kids interact.
Tonight we got together with Andy's and Ben's families and had a blast. We had a pot luck BBQ-the first one of the year! The food was good and the company even better. We did do something a little different tonight. We had FHE-family home evening or family night to those who are not LDS-together. It was neat to see how even people with different personalities can have the same belief system and have something spiritual and wonderful together. It was a joy spending time with these other families and feeling of their love for each other and us. Thanks guys for a fun night!
You know it's really funny because I'm sure in highschool we never thought, "Hey I'm still going to be friends with this person when I'm older, and our kids are going to be friends and play together." It's not something that you're thinking about at that age. But what is wonderful is that we developed those relationships at a younger age and have watched them blossom and develop over time and they are better now than they were then.

thats really cool.
I didn't, until last Saturday. I got together with two of my friends that I went to Jr. High and High School with. It was such a blast!
That's great that you've had close contact with your friends!
